What the Adelaide data says
Across the 826 analysis cells within 25 km of central Adelaide, covering roughly 787,049 residents, 35 score as EV charging blackspots — places where traffic, population, income and nearby venues all point to demand, and yet the nearest charger is far enough away that drivers are underserved.
There are 1,622 candidate host venues in the same area against 58 existing chargers — about 3.6 chargers per 100 venues that could plausibly host one. The gap between those two numbers is the opportunity, and it is not evenly spread: the map shows exactly which end of town it sits in.
How the scoring works
Every Adelaide location is scored the same way as everywhere else in Australia: Getis-Ord Gi* hotspot statistics on demand, an OLS demand-gap regression, and a machine-learnt suitability model, all computed over open government data. Nothing is hand-tuned per city — which is what makes the comparison between Adelaide and anywhere else meaningful.
